Well it seems to be a well kept secret,if you are not in HMRAV you are out of the loop!
Why hasnt it been adervertised by hmrav on this web site or MA vic ,no advertising means a low turn out,no mention of it on Ma vic website, crazy.

Yes and then they all claim nobody has any interest in classic racing Ma vic should get of there butt and put some efort into promotion, not everbody can get to club meetings to get the information,
Historic practise days are a dam good idea i have been to a few open broadford practise days they just do not work for historic bikes very dangerous sometimes all ducs and r1s belting round.
I will be going on the 16th getting set for Island Classic
More promotion PLEASE

I believe that historic racing or some other form of classic racing are the future of road racing in Australia, and it's about time MA contributed to their promotion. MotoGP and superbike racing might be all very nice, but they are outside the reach of most of us.

A friend told me about at the Mt Gambier meeting at new years,i new nothing about it before then, and i have racing historics for 20 years, thats my point new people to the sport have no hope if you are not in the old boy loop how do do people find out about these things,it is up to Ma and clubs to adertise these things.
I agree with you Historic racing has a big future BUT it must be promoted, the island classic is a success because it has the strength of the P/I managment behind it.

Revhd, ever thought about doing some promotion yourself instead of blaming others for lack of action?

I take it you are volunteering to come along with some new ideas on promotion and are prepared to put some time in.
Thanks that will be a great help to us.

The Historic practise days are an idea of Martin, the Broadford manager who thinks there may be people off work on thsoe days looking for a run.
Its his idea, he bounced it off the HMRAV committe3e who suggested the particular days which fit in with some rostered days off scheme.
the reason it has not been listed here is because most of us have been busy with xmas and other stuff. Anyway, what is the problem, you found out anyway.

That statement clearly shows what the problem is!

What is the Mt Gambier new year's meeting ? - another secret ? A little bit of notice about when meetings are about to happen might help !
I thought this forum was supposed to promote classic racing ? If upcoming meetings aren't mentioned here, what hope have we got of ever building the sport into something really worthwhile ?

Alan said,
"thought this forum was supposed to promote classic racing ?"
Well I belive we at "CLASSIC MOTORCYCLING.COM.AU"Do a better job than all other's.. Remember David does this as a spare time thing/hobbie..
He has to "work" for a living and support a wife and 2 girls..
Yep, most other have "failed" in their attempts to run a "web" for the classics..
When u consider the lack of support from some of the so called classic clubs
(HMARV,MT G MCLC CLUB, EVEN HARTWELL) have never been supported for us..
Over the years we have had "direct talks" with MA where all their promices fell into a big hole..

John said,
"Revhd, ever thought about doing some promotion yourself instead of blaming others for lack of action?"
Well Mr Revhd is doing his bit by letting all of us think "WHY" 'aint this info on "OUR" CLASSIC MOTORCYCLING WEB SITE"..
Over many years there have been many who have tried to do the right thing " but " we will have those with negitive throughs, which never help this cause..

OK, YOU CAN SAY WHAT DO I DO !!!!

With any/most webs it's the input of the readers
(that you)that make or break the site and so far we have lived on, so CLASSICMOTORCYCLING.COM.AU must be doing the right thing for the "CLASSIC MOTORCYCLING" in Australia..
Remember WE need you, the "People and Clubs" to give us your info of what and where it's happening!!!

Wel I have offered and the offer still stands for the Promotion of Classic/Post Classic or Historic Motorcycle Racing events in Australia on this site for free. I have an out of date front page and no one is taking the free offer to advertise their next big event. I try and no-one seems to want to take it up..

I do this site as I love the sport and have for years and why the site remains, but if clubs do not want to take advantage of the free advertising of events, it's their loss. We have had in the last 6 months, over a million page displays, that is a lot of traffic to advertise to.

Hi people, belated happy new year to all.
The Historic practice days are listed on the MV website under Broadford.
The dates are January 16th, April 23rd, May 14th, July 9th, September 10th, October 8th and November 12th.
It would be advisable to call Martin Doxey on 5784 4163 or 0416 275 422 to confirm before leaving home.
David, could you post these dates on the front page for us?
Regards, John

I don't follow how to look up or enter information in the Event's Calendar.
Even the Phillip Island Classic isn't in there - should it be?
Are there instructions somewhere on how to get information into the Calendar? - sorry, maybe I'm thicker than most!

Ahhhh huh!
Thanks David.

I just posted the Phillip Isl Classic in there. I agree with Allan - why not put an "Events Calendar" link in the Main Menu?
But speaking of Allan - why has he got so many entries in the calendar for the Broadford practice day??
