Why is it that the biggest historic meeting of the year barely rates a mention on this site??

My dear Acotrel, Different people ride and prepare and go Historic Racing (whatever we want that to mean) for all sorts of reasons. I believe that word is FUN. I dont believe people out there are trying to recreate a re enactment of any particular event in years gone by. The Goodwood Revival would come closest to that. I believe rightly or wrongly that our racing is merely another class of racing with a lot more freedom and a more relaxed atmosphere as it was in bygone days. I personally dont think competitors are running around trying to seperate drum brakes from disc brakes or slicks from treaded tyres or 2 strokes from 4 strokes. Starts are based on qualifying as always and we all hope to come home in one piece. I believe that the competitors have a hell of a lot more FUN than the bystanders. All the best Jerry Kooistra

Jerry, this is how it was and how should look now:

There were two superbikes in that race and both were lapped. Even back then it looked wrong. At the Island last weekend there would have been at least thirty two stroke production racers over 300cc capacity, it is not rocket science to get them all into the one race so they can be seen at their best. I don't go to motorcycle races to see TZ750s and TZ350s and RG500s wasted by running them against superbikes.

The traffic on the Monash Freeway comes in all shapes and sizes, do you think that is good racing too?

well i had fun,(eventually),too tired to lap ex valve,so figured line contact,it'll bed in!!,wrong, think sunday races it settled down, got mates to take my tank to Ago for signing,(while i was resetting ex clearance),pretty cool goldleaf pen jobbie!!,track resurfacing was pretty spoton, even when it was raining was no surprises there!,the wind was diabolical,i used the new runoff section on end of gardiner straight trying to turn in,(but why would you put a ripple strip there)shiploads of competitors, good to see the yanks made an effort, can only get stronger,(they will be back ),sat nites presentation/celeb interviews were good value, learnt new swearword in italian ,highlite was Keith Campbell,(George's brother, current Keiths uncle) indoctrinated into the m/cycle hall of fame, final bonus for me was loading my bike in the van sunday arvo in one piece, still a runner ,

Jason, It would have been nice to catch up. Maybe next time. I heard that the spectator also copped a $7500.00 fine for his little sojourn on to the track. We came away from the meeting very happy with 2 pole positions for the class, 7 wins and a DNF while leading (chain came off)and also two lap records. Levi is already in South Africa and will be racing this weekend and also the next before he goes on to the UK. All the best Jerry

That was a bizarre incident with Levi, glad it was not a major incident, could easily have been. I heard the guy got a broken leg for his efforts?

Acotrel, you didn't come and say hello! Maybe you didn't venture down the far end of the paddock. Did you watch any of the P6 races??

Jerry I meant to come and say hello, maybe next time.

What is the problem of having them in the same races. I am sure all out there enjoyed their racing and there was more than one or two riders who told me that they would have loved to have ridden a TZ750. All the best Jerry

Jerry, the racing was very fast, but the mixed grid of two strokes and four cylinder four strokes in the superbike races is rubbish. It means nothing.

Scotty Webster went well.

If you notice the site is run by you the readers..
David owns the site pays the bills (which are quite large ) and the readers have to make the commenets, race reports
the site is run by its readers..
no reader no reports would result in no www.classlcmotorcycling.com.au
Its up to the readers to make the site as good as it has been for over 10 years..
A good effort by David in building and running the site for us..

Saw Acotrel wandering around at PI. I am hoping he will give us all a very informative description of the excellent racing that took place. The track will be absolutely unreal by January next year with records tumbling further. Levi has totally settled down from hitting a spectator who jumped 2 fences to get on to the track. All the best Jerry
