We have 2 classic and 2 Post Classic outfits entered.
Any chance of some of you coming out to play?
Can you let me know because we cant run an event with two sidecars and I can go somewhere else that weekend instead?

John, this is woeful. Perhaps time to get on the 'phone and stir things up. The attendance at the "modern" vic championship (Preston) was well down and the Hartwell round only managed to attract 3 of which one inverted itself and took no further part. We know they are out there, is it lack of money that stops them?
There is obviously a problem which needs to be identified to see if something can be done to solve it.
Cheers, John

My approach has always been 'softly , softly'.
Bondi normally has the timefor the ring around and maybe that will happen. If I get a report via this site thats all I need. Thanks Tony, you licence application is back in the mail.
I know this is off topic, has the front end been fixed and does anybody know if the BMW is fronting?

Yeah me again,
We will be there with bells on, (tinkerbell but no Wendy.......) Like Buck we have been a little tardy too, that plus we waiting for Buck n Tony to pay up the $7.50 they owe us .... hahahahaha.
I believe that sidecar corner will be full again due to the fact that Big Tom will be making a guest appearence on Saturday evening, much to Bondy's disgust. Have also heard a whisper that Bondy will be in bed by 2:30am instead of 3ish due to his on-going fitness schedule and desire to win another Vic title.
See ya all there

Has the "Ararat Tyhoon" got his licence yet, I heard he had to do a favour or two to get it.
It may have even come from a weeties packet.

Hmm I have not been on here for a while now and it was a bit of a shock to read the first posting on this forum! But I was encouraged as I followed the subsequent entries to the point where it appears that we are going to get a reasonable field. As you know it is a costly exercise coming over there all the time so I would not be excited to get there and find bugger all entries from people who only have to drive around the corner! But, as usual, there is that core group that we can rely to have fun - thanks all of you [you know who you are]. We are looking forward to catching up again - on and off the track.
Cheers

Hi Guys, so do we find out what you changed to make the thing steer properly? Remember the knowledge shared helps us all.

# 68 shall be in attendance. New cam has been ground, new battery box to prevent it falling out so all is well.

Sorry for the late reply on the steering cure.
We added more forward adjustment to the front end, i.e. additional 2" of lead adjustment. Only needed to move forward approximately 1" and problem solved. The proof of the pudding was the ease of handling at the Vic Historics, although the lack of speed may well have contributed(in comparison to other and larger machines).
Thanks to everyone who offered advice on this problem.
Cheers, Buck & Peen (The Pink Pig, #20)

Alan, your advice was good advice, I actually just posted this in the F2 discussion. Peen is correct, there were four settings on the end of the fork legs, back, centre and lower were all extremely violent at low speed, now I have in my short time seen some head shake but this was violent. We found at Phillip Island that the forward middle setting was good, but after a nearly full lap it turned on us again BUT it was not as violent. I went through all the processes that you suggested and eliminated what I could. I actually sat with a mate who is handy with steel and a mig, and descibed the situation over a few beers, he suggested a couple of pieces of 2 inch tube, heavy. I cut them, and drilled three holes on each, basically sticking with the original forward hole centre. We used the first centre hole I drilled,it was about an inch centre to centre from the oringinla forward hole, the other two have very minimal differences and guess what, the beers cured the problem, I think my mate and myself must have been engineers in a former life as cure the issue we did. It is strange what a seemingly small ajustment can make, it looks like it actually raked the machine forward by a mile, but we did noticeafter this adjustment that the wheels an tyre, well the tyre is sitting dead centre on the pavement, not forawrd and not back, lucky drilling I put that down to, we just used the one inch as a starting point. This all applies to 12 inch wheels running 6 ply R rated light truck tyres, 60 bucks each, that and worked well at Broadford. We did find that with the higher profile tyres, 32 lbs of air in the front started to cure the washy effect down the straights, few of the boys picked up that we have a bit of sidewall movement so we are experimenting with tyre pressures seems the harder we go the better the pink pig feels.

I hope this helps as we can now add another cure to this situation.

And thankyou again mate I owe you a few that is for sure.

Cheers,

Buck
