Hey all,
I've just recently bought a 74CB750 (that's what the paperwork says, she's a bit of a cafe bitza) but I am having a few teething problems.

It was running fine but now all of a sudden, won't start at all. When I last rode it, it was coughing and spluttering under load (running rich or lean maybe).

I changed the spark plugs and they were all pretty wet. I also drained the bowls of the carbies as I thought that was the problem but still no good.

It's giving a spark but am just at a total blank now.. should I bite the bullet and take it to a mechanic?

Another question is insurance. Everywhere seems to have issues with bikes over 20 years old. Can anyone recommend anywhere?

Sorry to be one of those new guys that posts so much but yeah, it's here now :)

Oh, I'm in Sydney by the way

Reegan, have you checked valve timimg, and tappet gaps? If it was coughing and spluttering it may be that the timimg is out? Try Shannons for classic insurance.
Also, try Googling "Satanic Mechanic" on-line. He has free manuals that you can download/print.
Cheers, Tony.

Try new petrol if it has been standing for any length of time.

First thing first, got my bike insured for under a hundred bucks and they'll let me put the value up at any time. Excellent advice thanks, Tony. I've also downloaded those manuals from Satanic and I'll change the fuels. Will keep you posted guys.

Good stuff Reegan, keep us updated with how you get on. BTW, I have a small business selling Honda CB parts, both stock and performance. My banner pop's up on this site at the page top, Honda CB Power & Performance. Give me a call if you need anything. Cheers, Tony.
