I got to wondering how many old sods are out there, no longer racing but who still have a bike in the garage that they would like to have a ride on?
Do you know anyone?
If we can get enough support it should be possible to organise something at Broadford.
Minimum combined age of bike and rider 100.
The ton up boys ride again.

I have had a chat with Lindsay and he says these ride days were stopped because they became too expensive.
I will see if we can resurrect them.

Good move David.

Gave the user Altius a fair go, but as he/she insisted on putting in the link that was used without permission and then removed then account is locked out. SPAMMERS not welcomed here.

That would be nice Jason!!

Even better he could televise some - Historic Winton for example.

Wakefield park is his - the PCRA One Hour weekend is a superb weekend of Historic racing - get this on Speedweek.

Perhaps we could ask Terry O'Neill to give historic racing a plug when his racing goes to air on SBS Speed Week?

John, unfortunately you are pretty close there.
We need to change things or we will see the sport disappear.

Secrecy prevents critisim.
If you miss the handshake you are out!

Well, at least he was trying to promote something which seems to be beyond our ability. We prefer to keep things secret.

The link that the user Altius provided was for the USA Veterans day site that he was promoting for hi8s tourist firm

I have checked the MV calendar and there is no mention of such events.
What hope is there when such things are a closely guarded secret?
I am far from an outsider and I don't know what is going on.
This is just not good enough.

Hope you have made contact John.
On reflection I think that we had two days each year.
They were both top days with lots of older riders as well as the chance for their offspring to try out the old machines in a safe place.
Wish you well in keeping this going.

The bloody secret society at work again.
I was completely unaware of that.
I shall have a word with Lindsay.
Thanks Patrick
We have a major communications problem.

Broadford have held for the past three years a most enjoyable Saturday for just what you are proposing.
HMRAV were advised prior to year one, contact Lindsay Urquart for full details.
Lots of smoke, noise and a great BBQ with more Indian smoke!

I think I saw a recent magazine article about Trevor Pound. Perhaps he's still alive and kicking?
john feakes Posted - 14 Jul 2011 : 2:03:06 PM
Yes Geoff, there are quite a few still racing.
It is the ones who have retired that I hope to find.
Unfortunately many are from the pre-computer era and I will have to try the good old telephone to stir them up.
Who knows someone?

A lot of our 'old sods' are still racing :-)

In the 'age' races at the Old Farts meeting I seem to recollect that we have quite a number who are well above the 100 so with the population you have in Vic you should have hoards of them
