MEDIA RELEASE – (Friday) 27 August 2004

NEW QUEENSLAND MOTORCYCLE SHOW WILL SHOWCASE

ALL THINGS WILD AND WONDERFUL ON TWO WHEELS

THE biggest display of motorcycling in all its forms, from the wild to the wonderful, will be presented to enthusiasts at the new Queensland Motorcycle Show in November.

The show on 5-7 November at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre will be Queensland’s first major stand-alone two-wheel expo.

It promises to bring together the A to Z of the motorcycle world, with displays not only of bikes, but also of scooters, quads and trikes, accessories and aftermarket products.

Show visitors will be able to take test-rides or be entertained with indoor performances by Australia’s top motocross riders.

Officially announcing the Queensland Motorcycle Show today, organiser Mark Harvey of Showtime Events said it would be “don’t-miss” event for every enthusiast throughout Queensland and northern New South Wales.

“We plan this to be the most complete display of everything to do with motorcycling yet staged in Queensland,” Mr Harvey said.

“The new $120 million Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition centre adjacent to Conrad Jupiters Casino will be a magnificent setting that ensures exhibitors unfettered opportunity to create outstanding displays.

“It also gives us scope to organise some fabulous entertainment in an arena setting, so this will be far more than a static display of bikes and gear.

“It will be a celebration of the motorcycling lifestyle, which has never been more popular than it is today.”

Mr Harvey said representatives of most motorcycle brands already had signed up for the show, months in advance of the booking deadline.

Harley Davidson, Buell, BMW, Cagiva, MV Agusta, Husqvarna and Kawasaki were among brands already committed, while many more were expected to sign up soon.

Scooters promised to be a significant part of the Queensland Motorcycle Show, in line with their booming popularity as cheap and chic city transport, Mr Harvey said.

“Over the coming weeks we’ll have more exciting developments to announce, but for now I urge every enthusiast to reserve 5-7 November for an event that will cover everything they love about the world on two wheels,” he said.
