I'm interested in your comment, and I'll ask for the supp regs from Wakefield Park. I wonder about the reason that junior racing is different in NSW to Vic. It appears there are a lot of differences in the way motorcycle racing is conducted, between the two states!

I had a look at AMCN at the newsagents, but I couldn't remember the page number, and the junior racing thing wasn't in the index. I'll have a look for page 128 next time I'm there, and buy the mag if it's of interest. I'm surprised that there are major differences in road racing between NSW and Vic. There seems to be a lot more meetings there, and a different attitude. Even PCRANSW is inspiring, and so are the BEARS up there!!
P.S. I'm not being cheap in not buying AMCN, but for years I bought magazines that were often a yawn, with a lot of repeat material from other sources. These days I have a good look at them before buying. If the quality of reporting is there I grab them. (Jim Scaysbrook's mag is usually good value.)

I think the main differences between N.S.W. and Victoria is in which bikes are running. As I understand it the Hondas are the bikes being promoted in N.S.W. and the races are strictly for Hondas with the necessary purchase certificate whereas in Victoria the races are a joint venture between Metrakit and the Preston club in which any bikes can compete. To my way of thinking this is a much healthier approach. Metrakit are holding a junior camp at Broadford from the 3rd to the 6th of October with racing on the 6th. Why not come down and have a look?Cheers, John

First of the junior teams from WA came in last night and the numbers from other states built up throughout the day... its a bit like one other big event at Broadford but the riders are so much younger.
Training camp tomorrow with qual. late Friday - great days racing forcast for Saturday .. if you can why not drop by to see the future stars.

Patrick, I'd love to attend your meeting, this subject is really important. Unfortunately I have commitments in Melbourne over the week end, and I'll be going down Friday, and back Tuesday. I'll be interested to know how your weekend goes. It would be simply ridiculous if motorcycling in Victoria cannot get kids into road racing as easily as MX. I know circuit hire is more expensive, however the cost of a good competitive bike should be similar!

Alan, a shame that you are not able to get to Broadford. Can't reschedule Saturday? I got to thinking about the cost of roadrace bikes and really nothing has changed in the last 50 years. I remember when dirt bikes like Dot and Greeves were about half the price of say a 7R or a Manx. I guess it comes down to supply and demand with lots of dirt bikes being sold and only a few roadrace bikes. I still believe the old Moriwakis are the cheapest entry bikes in the 80cc category. I will look out for you on Saturday. Cheers, John

Alan, check the MCNews site. Honda are offering a free try out day at Newcastle Kart track. Could be a good introduction day for anyone up north. Cheers, John

Was a Greeves Silverstone half the price of a 7R or a Manx? Have you ever seen Wes Brown's Cotton 250? It couldn't have cost anything like a 7R or a manx, and it was a bloody sight quicker! Jack Casey gave a bit of a fright with it, I found him very hard to beat with a 500cc Triumph!
