Hi, new to Forum...
I'm trying to find out any information regarding the 1 1/4 mile "Poplar's Road Circuit" which was on the Sydney road outside of Mudgee. I have two posters which are original & are dated "Boxing day 1952" & second "Easter 1954"

Any info relating to people, bikes or types of races would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Cichlid, there is something fishy about this. My knowledgable friend thinks that Poplars was at Mittagong but there was a track at Mudgee where the council depot is now. This track being used at Easter after the Bathurst meetings and attracting riders such as Jack Forrest, Jack Ahearn, Ross Pentecost etc. Perhaps someone out there knows more? Sorry, more confusion than help. Cheers, John

Perhaps a dig in the local council would reveal something. They would have records of land use and permits etc. Do you have a local historical society? Good luck, I know from experience how frustrating this kind of search can be. Senior citizens club perhaps?
Cheers, John

Poplars track was defiately Mudgee and another track -Red Hill was west of town Piambong area. Seen some nice posters pulled out of a shed once there but couldn't acquire them and last inquiry they were lost to the weather while stored under a tarp waiting for a shed to be built when the guy had moved elsewhere. The usual riders of that period rode there im told and Hinton broke his leg bad one meeting.
