H2 is that a Kawasaki??
Methanol It would be good to go to the post calssic site from Sydney and search for 'Methanol for P5 bikes ' topic. I wrote a lot of detail there.
If we get a technical section here I will shift it. |

I'll give Ash Winn a call mate, he runs a H1 Kawasaki speedway chair (the lunatic). Do you want to fling me your number and I'll get him to give you a call?
Even better, call Ben Needham at Old Car Gearboxes in Oakleigh. (03) 9553-3203. He's a P4 driver and should be able to give you a good idea. |

The elusive Geoff Grant is here. Sorry, been real busy lately and don't get on here as much as I would like to. Yeh, I can give you what I do as far as set up but it really depends upon a lot of things. I don't know your tracks in QLD but for Mallala, Mac Park, Winton and Broadford I use 44/16 gearing. I use Hoosier tyres when it is dry and Bridgestones when it is wet 'cos the Hoosiers are useless in the wet. As for methanol it really depends upon your porting, how far your carbs are from your pistons and what size carbs you are using. I am currently running 38mm carbs with 2.7 mm main jets, drilled needle jets and polished needles. (Sorry I can't remember the specs on the other jets. With that set up I am a bit on the rich side but it is fast enough for me and that makes sure I am not risking pistons by running lean. I run 40 to 1 premix and the oil pump on about 1/4 (with a few modifications to the oilways) - keeps it smokin so I know it is safe. So tell me about your outfit. Have you just built it or found it in a shed or what. I did not know there were any more H2s out there apart from one in WA which is a bit bigger than 750! I am pleased to hear of another one and it would be great to do a few laps together one day - the music of six pipes singing should drown those droning Hondas!!!LOL Cheers Geoff Sidecar #30 |

i had just about given up, thanks for the reply. no i havent got an outfit iam in the process of getting all the info i need to build my own. i sold my last one <honda> to some one down south years ago, cant remember his name. you cant miss it it painted in yellow/black checkers.i think number 27 ? i have had a back injury which put me out of racing for years but i had surgery last week to fix it. wont no for 2/3 months how i will end up.as for my engine h2 750,all nevs go fast goodies, my porting, 2 sets cylinders piston ported, & reedvalve,my cyl/head design my pipes. 38mm carbs modified. meth. i almost sold it a while back because of my back, thank god i didnt.the frame iam going to build is based on f2 measurements. i have had a lot hassle finding this out. made contact with two guys in the uk with brand new lcr f2 chassie and they have given me the details i need. should be fun to see how it handles. geoff can you tell me how you set up your gearbox with h1/h2 parts and how are you running your fuel up to the carbs. thanks mark

Slider 84, was your Honda outfit bought from douglas park in NSW? If so those black/yellow checks are still going round in NSW but in a modern form. |

Hi Mark, I have a lousy memory on details so will have to check which gears are which and will let you know later (although that will be quite a bit later 'coz we are leaving Adelaide in the next couple of days to head to Perth (holidaying and then the Nationals). I use a commodore fuel pump running to a header tank with gravity feed to the carburettors. Cheers Geoff Sidecar #30 |

thanks geoff..no problem, ,and i need to know the distance from the front axle to the crankshaft/ height of the sprocket center to the ground , height of the swing arm pivot centre to the ground, height of the rear axel centre to the ground. this will help me work out how much anti squat or pro squat under full throttle. cheers mark |

Hey, some of those last questions are really good ones! I am just working on a new frame myself and am not relying on what I had because my current outfit has a H2 wedged into an Urqhart frame which I believe originally had a Triumph motor in it. This means that where the crankshaft ended up in relation to front axle (or anything else) probably has no relation to the ideal. I know mine pushes the front a lot and if I get grip it simply wheel stands anywhere up to third gear. I reckon that the ideal set up should be a bit different. As well as that my frame originally had 10 inch wheels and was converted to 13s sometime in its life. This means that ground clearance is not at the minimum allowable and it means that I am limited in height adjustment so cannot run Avons or similar that have a larger rolling diameter. So, that was a long answer to say that I don't think I would model another outfit on mine - I am certainly not going to model my new one on the old one. So, if you come up with anything that sounds like answers to your questions I would like to hear them too. I intend to try and chat with a guy in WA who has run (or maybe still is running) a H2 quite successfully. He might know some of these things.
And, this might be the last time I get on here for a while 'coz we think we are leaving Adelaide tomorrow and won't be back until mid December so I may not get to this site for a while - it does not mean I am ignoring you! Cheers Geoff Sidecar #30 |

**** , wheel stands, somethings wrong for sure. the pushing means not enought wieght on the front and the wheel stand means to much pro squat< hooks up to hard >triumph would have been a **** load heaver as well. this is how i am going to set up my new outfit using modern specs but still legal. steering head angle 22 deg trail adjustable from 0 to 12 mm wheelbase 63 to 65 inch wheel track 43 inch 3 mm toe in over a meter wheel lead 13 maybe 14 engine as far forward as possible so the pipes clear the leading link. set up your steering head the same you wont regret it. this will give more tyre contact when you turn < more tyre ,more grip> just need to know the other measure ments as posted above. if anyone else has an outfit please post the piviot point specs. cheers mark |
