Jason, regardless of BEARS competing at historic meetings, there is room for Period 6 in most historic race programmes! By combining other classes to get full grids, it's possible to run extra classes. This was done at the 2003 Championships, where the BEARS Championship was run on the same programme. It was a two day meeting, held on the 3Km circuit. All races were 6 laps, and if you brought only one bike, you got 5 rides, and two practices. There is an issue with combining Period 3 with other periods in that riders on later period bikes must take care of others who are using drum brakes - we had no problems. We had the maximum number of bikes on every grid. The guys whinged about the meeting because their races weren't the reruns they were accustomed to, but we managed to fit all the races into the allotted time, and every championship class was run, and the winners determined. I simply cannot accept that current meetings couldn't cope with period 6 as well as BEARS. We need the entries to make the sport attractive to spectators, and to justify the overheads.
