Can anyone recommend to me what i would need to use in order to clean old 70's bikes Aluminium engine casing?
So far i have used Mothers cream polish, loads of autosol polishing products, a buff wheel on an air tool and yes it has worked but not fantastically, what can other people recommend?
Thank you.
Mart.

Vaquablasting is effective and quite gentle. I don't know anyone in Queensland but I'm sure you will find a place that does it. |

Did somebody say Queensland? I don't know if this business is still at Capalaba but the web link leads to a bloke at Jimboomba: BEAD BLASTING Specialised Blasting 3239 Old Cleveland Rd,Capalaba Qld 4157. (behind Midwest Custom Cycles) Mobile 0411 332 834 Alloy engine Wetblast, gentlest blasting of your components, no change to detail or dimension, beautiful finish. See site for samples. You must be logged in to see this link.
I've had a pair of fork legs done by him at Capalaba with excellent results. Looking at his website there's heaps of engine work shown that look very nice. |

I bead balsted my T150 cases with Sand blasting to start (sealing ALL internals), then finished with bead blastinf the results came up very nice.
BUT in hindisight I would get it does professionally as it is a bloody tiresome task.
If you want a brilliant carb body resto, try Turtle Mag Wheel cleaner.. excellent!! result. |
