Where have you been Alan? We've missed your 'dynamism' on the forum! |

Jason, you haven't been here to fire me up ! I think it must be the cold weather or the GFC, but most of the forums seem dead these days. I'd really like to generate a bit more enthusiasm amongst the fellas, but I don't know how. |

The Matchless G90 clip was put up for Allan Greening's benefit. He had one in about 1960, but we lost track of it. At the time we knew it was special, sort of like a BSA Gold Star. It had a map reading light on the petrol tank, and it was pretty quick. |

Maybe people are preparing bikes? You could always set forth one of your controversial posts to get a bit more 'enthusiasm' on the Forum!! not that I'm encouraging that of course...it may be one of the reasons some people have switched off! |

I don't know what the reason for the silence might be. It seemed to start about 6 months ago. I was watching the forum, and there seemed to be very few new posts, and that was a long while after I stopped posting. I've been a bit preoccupied with digitising old VHS tapes of bike racing, and getting them onto youtube. I can't think why all the other forums are so slow ? |

Did you notice the note under the video clip, that said there were only seven G90s known to still exist ? I could never understand why the 1938 bike seemed better than the 50s G80s. The G90 you had was fitted with what looked like a later swinging arm, but it had bolted straight up and fitted perfectly without any bodging. I've often wondered if it came from the factory like that. |

The thing about velos is that the really good stuff was never available. Ollie still has Frank Mussett's 350 KTT, and the guy from Shepparton had a decent MK8 which he recently sold back to the poms. The rest of the bikes were mostly converted road stuff and they've usually been collected by the bearded ****ers. An original Thruxton Velocette would be a great Sunday bike. Otherwise racing a velo would be difficult because of that funny gearbox set up. How would you get six speeds into one ? The DOHC Mk 8 or a Roarer, would be a fantastic thing to own, but I don't know what you could do with it. It'd be like being curator to a museum piece. Even the Les Diener Velo probably falls into that category - how could you race it and risk destroying it ? |

'i sold it to ron johnstone!'
Do you realise that was half a century ago ? I wonder if he's still alive? I think he was a public servant and moved to Canberra in the mid sixties. Nice bloke, smart and sensible. |

Doug Sherlock still has the 250 triumph. Lives in Yarrawonga these days. If you have a look at the video I put up on youtube about 1984 Winton, you'll see both him and his brother racing. They used to ride Ken Sherlock's triumph 650. I think both you and I went to Ken's place years ago - no relation to doug, just same name. |

The one that Allan Greening had was fitted with a swing arm that looked like it came from the factory. It bolted up perfectly, no welded up mods. Perhaps the front part of the post-war models frames were the same as pre-war ? The G90 was a sports model like a BSA goldie. It was fitted with a map reading lamp on the tank. But I don't think Allan's had a twin port head like the one in the video clip. |
