Come on, he's done his time in the sin bin for a crime he didn't commit and this forum needs him.
Love him or loathe him he at least kept conversation going.

He went and registered as laterco and after discussions with Allan, we are unlocking his true account.

If I get further complaints I will lock his account again and will been banned permanently. Simple..

That would be a backward step, this used to be a good site with many contributors and thanks to Jane (an alias) and Acotrel everyone has disappeared, give it time and unless someone else in a similar vein steps up it will come back but it isnt going to happen overnight.

It is still very quiet on this forum. Perhaps people have forgotten it is here ?

Jason - let's have a really good argument about Period 6 ? Do you think the larger capacity bikes should be run off the same grid as Period 4 and Period 5 big stuff ? Perhaps Period 6 big bikes should be limited to 750cc in historic racing ?

I won't have an argument with you on P6 but a robust discussion will do.

Combining grids happens mostly as needs be.
At club level I have already seen and experienced combined unlimited P4-P6 grids. At state, national and big events (IC, BSFoS) there is more reason (and numbers) to separate as much as possible. Ideally, each class should run on its own wherever possible (ie: when numbers and program allows).

Defining P6 classes has been tricky, since the limits changed through the 80's - 1000's were very much raced before the 750 cap came in, so to adequately represent the era, you need both. I'm more interested in seeing a production class per capacity and then an all-out modified class, as there was in the late 80's ("production" and the misleadingly named "Super Touring"). I'd recommended this when the P6 rules were being drafted but the current MoMs has rounded it all off to one class which is both and yet neither.

Nonetheless, as we can enter up a class, having a 750 as I do means I can also run in the 1000 class, if its off a separate grid, as was the case at the Barry Sheene in March, in which I managed to finish second (through attrition admittedly) behind an A grader on an ex MYDT FZR1000 which has had extensive work done to it. Not bad for a virtually stock 750 sports tourer. My best lap was 3 secs slower than his. The Aust Titles in nov this year will be a good test as to where P6 is at, at a national level. I expect to get smoked in the 750 class unless it rains, as so far I am aware of an A grader turning up on an Ex Winfield RC30, an A grader on a well prepared OW01, plus no doubt some other stuff that's not even on the radar yet. I also have a 250GP to try and get ready before then, where at least the equipment is a little more even (although you can never overcome having to compete with someone who weighs 20kg less than you do!)

I apologise to you Jason, Semantics are not my strong point, I cannot distinguish between a robust discussion and an argument. I guess I'm just not a nice person, I was probably a manager for too long.
About Period 6 -
How would it be if we ran all the superbikes of all periods together in capacity classes with heats ? Heat 1 could be for period 4 bikes, and slower Period 5 and 6 in an up to 750cc class. Heat 2 could be for fast Period 4 bikes, fast Period 5 bikes, and Period 6 bikes up to 1000cc. The Final could take the first 10 from heat 1, and the first 15 from heat 2.

Then we could do the same thing with the two strokes/GP bikes and the thunderbikes.

It would mean that each race would have the same type of bikes in it, and the speeds would be better matched.

With the two strokes/GP bikes heat 1 could be all capacities and periods up to 350cc (no TZs or RD/LCs), heat two could be over 350cc plus TZs and RD/LCs. The Final could be the first 10 from heat1 and the first 15 from heat 2.

The thunderbikes could be treated the same way.

It would mean that a set of races would be about a dozen races, and it could be repeated a couple of times during a weekend of normal 'period' racing. If I was organising it, I'd do it each afternoon of a two day meeting.

I wouldn't put yourself down that way, I've already been a manager too long as well, it's corrosive.

Look, the joint superbike grid idea - maybe as a novelty race or feature that might be an interesting thing to do, but you must remember that competitors generally always want to run against their own kind. ie: I want to run against P6 750's. And for example, you'd have in your first Heat example 750 Fours, VFR400's and say V twin dukes - is that a mix that is going to make sense to (the few) spectators let alone entertain them? At club level different classes, eras and categories tolerate running with one another because they have to, to get a run, and many guys are happy to have a friendly dice with whoever on whatever, but at the bigger events (where sheep stations could be up for grabs) there is an expectation if not an outright demand that grids reflect as accurately as possible the bikes they are on.
