The Sidecar field at the Island classic filled the marked grid on the start line. It looks like they will need to get the paint out for next year as I came across two new teams and about 3 potential participants. I expect to see sidecars as the biggest single flied within 2 years at the present rate of development. So keep up the good work fellas, have as much fun as is legal, and then tell everybody about it!

Well John, you've got a definite classic outfit here being restored for next year's season (new year resolution)and a very possible post-classic after swinging with Bob on the weekend. Now, if I can just sell something other than my body............ |

Tel us more about the machines. I had not counted yours in the calculations. |

The classic is a 58 Norton with a 56 Triumph 500. It was built some time in the 60's and campaigned then. There was some thought it is an old one of Lindsay's but he can't remember the bike. John Heaviside had it for a while and then it was run as a flat-tracker by the Petrie brothers. It will be completely restored as to how it might have looked in the 60's. Won't be the fastest, but could be the best-looking! After the Island Classic, I am toying with the idea of buying a post-classic....... |

I assume that you counted us in that number John? Well, where do I start, the Island Classic is a fantastic event, especially given that it was out first outing. BUT..... steering shakes, failed ignition, and other bits meant we got only one lap in. I think our dissappointment was noticed by a few, as was the oil trail left on the new concrete at the back of the pit sheds. To all of you that helped us out, thank you. What a crew, all real gentlemen and women. We'll be at Broadford in March, and the "PINK PIG" will have its neck wrung well and truly. BTW, can someone tell Oby that tip fee's have gone up to $8.50? Sidecar corner ruled. Those solo guys need to take a leaf out of our book and socilaise a bit more. Matcho Mick, sorry about Bucks' snoring mate!!! See you all again real soon. Cheers, Peen & Buck (Tony & Robert) |

If we use the number of machines at the Island as the benchmark, I can say there now is another P5 outfit on the track again. Chris Trounson has sold his outfit to Ian Gardener. So if you hear of any other potential new teams please let me know. |
