AUSTRALIAN HISTORIC TT AND GP

RACE CATEGORY SPECIFICATION

Definitions:

The term ‘tourist trophy’ (TT) machine means a fourstroke motorcycle with one or two cylinders, regardless of ‘period’ however with ‘cutoff date’ of 1982.

The term ‘grand prix’ (GP) machine means either a twostroke motorcycle, or a fourstroke motorcycle with more than two cylinders, regardless of period however with a ‘cutoff date’ of 1982.

1. The term ultralightweight class means a race class for motorcycles of less than 125cc capacity.

2. The term lightweight class means a race class for motorcycles of less than 250cc capacity.

3. The term junior class means a race for motorcycles of capacity more than 125cc and less than 350cc.

4. The term senior class means a race for motorcycles of capacity more than 250cc and less than 500cc.

5. The term Formula 750 class means a race for motorcycles of capacity more than 350cc and less than 750cc.

6. The term Unlimited class means a race for motorcycles of capacity more than 500cc and less than 1300cc.

Race No 1 Ultralightweight TT

Race No 2 Ultralightweight GP

Race No 3 Junior TT

Race No 4 Junior GP

Race No 5 Formula 750 TT

Race No 6 Formula 750 GP

Race No 7 Lightweight TT

Race No 8 Lightweight GP

Race No 9 Senior TT

Race No 10 Senior GP

Race No 11 Unlimited TT

Race No 12 Unlimited GP

Notes
. The separation of machines into the two categories (TT and GP) achieves what was previously desired by the use of ‘periods’.
It may be necessary to run heats in some classes. The GCRs related to fuel must still apply, methanol may not be used in machines later than 1972 manufacture. There must be no restrictions applied on the basis of ‘period’, only the ‘cutoff date’ shall apply – nominally 1982. Entries should be accepted on the basis that competitors nominate for the class(es) in which they want to compete.

Let's do some REAL historic racing? If we add a TT and a GP sidecar class, junior and senior,(four extra races) we should be able to comfortably fill in a day's racing. Historically the Australian TT was always held over six laps of the host circuit. It was the main Australian motorcycle event in any year. Cutoff date for the Australian Historic TT should be whatever is allowed as latest for period 5. The guys with P5 bikes can use slicks, those with P4 bikes can use methanol. All bikes should be logbooked in at least one 'period'.
