There is a group of people in Tasmania planning classic races at Longford in Tasmania. The director was at Winton to get some ideas they would like to incorporate in their meeting. It will be something like Historic Winton using part of the original road circuit.
It is to be held in March next year and is sure to attract a big field. The Vic champs is also in March so perhaps we will have to take that into consideration.

There is talk of special deals on the boat and two weekends of events.
HAS ANYBODY HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THIS

Have not heard a peep but this would be a great event on what is a very historic circuit - one of my hero's and fellow countryman has the huge satisfaction of puting up the quickist lap ever on the original Longford circuit.
John - we can and will juggle the dates for the titles and work in with your club to suit both events. I presume you spoke to the guy and that sidecars and solos now have top billing!
Chances like this are what the historic movement need to lift the profile in the publics' mindset.

I wonder if they're going to have the divers on the bridge?

Is your machine authentic or merely eligible?

Is there water still in the river?
You might need a Jumping castle on the river bed!!
If this event comes off - it's a must for old fog's like me. Where do you buy the tickets?

HERES THE LATEST, it is not at Longford.
Our dates for the Spirit of Longford are essentially Friday 11, Saturday
12, Sunday 13 March 2005. Practice and afternoon races ay Symmons
Plains on Friday, a back to the 60's sprint day on Saturday on part of
the old circuit and racing and parades on Sunday.

We would like to include motor cycles and are looking at this
possibility. One of our biggest problems will be getting accommodation
in the area in the tourist season.

Your advice on how you would like to participate would be appreciated.
If you can send me an early reply that would be helpful. We need to lock
things in really very quickly.

Has there been anymore news on this as I have had a request for information. If anyone knows anymore about it, please let us know as there appears not to be much information available as of current.

No more news I have not heard a beep since I spoke with the organiser. He did explain it was hoped to be based around the old car drivers etc for one last hurrah. I gained the impression bikes may have been an after thought. The motives are good, John Hamilton has put a lot of personnel effort into the matter thus far. he did ask if the HMRAV could help with bikes because nobody else had contacted him.
At the moment transport details are still fluid and any costings are far away. I did ask what sort of track time could riders expect and that seemed to need attension at the time I asked. The best I can suggest is I shall contact them again and report back.
