why cant they have 3 or 4 rounds for the historic champs , these could be held in different states and each club could run a round, people who are racing for the champs could do a few rounds , and people who cant afford the money or time to travel a great distance would be able to have the chance to race at a reasonable size meeting, say if they had 4 rounds the competitors who are championship contention who done the whole 4 rounds the worse meeting result could be dropped, that way competitors who could only compete in 3 meetings maybe through time, injury, money, machinery failure would have a chance to win a champ.
this would also get top classic racing to many more spectators and create an interest in people to become racers.
as a im new to the scene I imagine this has already be tried but it might be worth ago.

In theory you are right but in reality it cannot be achieved due to the high costs involved travelling and accomodating people around Australia. We already have an issue with costs holding just one meeting annually. Most people who can afford to travel go to meetings such as The Island Classic, The Southern Classic, The AHRMA meeting at Eastern Creek plus visiting other States and having a run in the various State Championships.
As a matter of interest for you follow the postings etc on the various modern websites and you will see that these guys often have problems affording the time and money involved in competing around the country. The point you made about local guys being able to enter is a valid one as this does happen a lot with modern racing.
It will be interesting to see what others think of your suggestions.
