I have read that one can do some work to stock Honda Carbies ie the KEI (funny symbol looks like an enlarged "K")HIN (KEIHIN). I have an older Honda Manual which talks about modification to the Honda Four. It says that you can take the venturi out to 30mm but these carbs have a sort of figure Eight shaped venturi. I must say that the set Peen and I run do appear to have had a bit of biffo on the breather side. I ask as I am not allowed to buy CR carbs. Any ideas out there?

Tell her lies and purchase the CR carbies.
If you get caught deny any knowledge of the prohibition and offer to barter a solution.
Make sure none of her mates are around or you will fail. Still to the issue and perhaps offer a trip to Melbourne Aqarium with a n evening at Luna Park. If that fails seek more advise! |

if you want to modify them this is what you do. measure the slide and bore the carby .4 mm smaller, machine out the figure 8 shape. you need to check how far the slide will go up and bore the carb to the same hieght < bottom of the slide> if your real clever lower the carb .25 mm and lower the slide groove to suit. the carbs will flow the same as 30 to 31 mm carbs and work best on methonal.there is no need to spend 1500 bucks on smoothbores when this will do cheers slider |

Slider, thank you for the response, now the questions. when you say 1. Measure the slide and bore the carb .4mm smaller, machine out the figure 8 shape. Do you mean that I round the 8 out until it is .4mm smaller than the diameter of the Slide? 2. Measure how far the slide goes up and bore the carb to the same height , bottom of Slide. I don't really follow you there are you enlighten me a bit more please? Re the lower the carb .25mm and lower the slide groove to suit, do I machine a bit off the base of the slide and open the groove to suit?
Then I pick your brains about jetting and will it work with Avgas?
Mate be as long winded as you like, as you may have guessed this is a big learning curve for me.

buck send me some measurements slide od,the bore size where the slide runs the venturi where the carb goes in to the engine. you need to work out the area being an oval bore where the slide is then out to a round cicle. once i work that out i can give you more accurate measurements. i think from memory 31mm is possible. slider |
