Hello
This might be in the wrong area but I'm sure I'll be told if it is
I'm new to this forum. I'm contemplating building a CB350 race bike for classic racing in QLD. I've had a look at the Classic rules in Motorcycling Australia handbook but I am not quite sure of a couple of aspects. For example, a 1989 CB350 (Period 4)has drum front brake - I think from about 1971 the same model bike had a disc front brake. Can the 1989 model use the later model disc brake setup?

Yes buddy, you can use ANY brake that was commercially available up to the end of December, 1972. BTW it appears your 8 and 6 may be transposed on your keyboard, I assume your CB350 is a 1969 : they were manufactured from 1964 to 1974 with virtually no change, so parts are pretty much interchangeable throughout. Also the disc brake from a CB500 or CB750 could be used as they both fall within the parameters, or a rare-but-good Suzuki GT750 drum, a Yamaha TR2/3 drum, etc... Good luck with your build, and as you will see if you trawl there's a separate CB350 thread on the forum, so you'll be able to chase parts and info for your racer. Regards GD66 |

A 1989 model bike is completly out of period for Historic racing. Are you sure its a 1989 model? |
