Norbo, I think the reason noone races LC's in Australia, is that after the seventies when just about everyone raced RD350's, the historic/classic racers changed the rules to exclude the RD's from post classic (1963 to 1972). Even use of the parts (reed valves) is prohibited in post classic. Forgotten era is so poorly supported that noone would bother to keep an old RD aircooled or watercooled, for racing, when you can use a TZ anyway. I still have two RD250LC 's, one is registered and in use. I have an RD400, and I will put the motor into a TZ250F frame soon. I have a TZ350G which I've hardly used, the expense of racing it just isn't justified, when you look at the fields. I concentrate on my MK3 Seeley/Commando 850, you can feel the hairs growing on you chest when you ride it! The RD's are good fun in twisty hilly areas though, but there aren't too many of those around Benalla, Victoria.

Norbo, I'm about to fit an LC radiator to my TZ. I've got two TZ radiators which are damaged. Do you know if the LC radiator fits without too mucgh trouble?

Alan, You can use an LC radiator on your TZ. There are 2 problems associated with doing that, 1 is the radiator hose from the water pump to the radiator will have to be replaced as the pipe in the radiator is in a different position. The 2nd and most important problem is that the LC's radiator has smaller water tanks top and bottom making the system carry less water and as the TZ system is borderline anyway you may run into problems in the hotter months or on longer tracks such as Phillip Is. My own TZ (the one that JAY TAYLOR rode at Winton & Phillip Is.) has a LC radiator, but I got an old buggered TZ one and got a good radiator place to swap the tanks over leaving me with a good erzatz TZ radiator. There is a guy that advertises in AMCN that would probably do a 1st class job, plus it keeps your bike looking original. Regards Rob Hinton
