I would like to pick the brains of the readers of this site with regards to the eligability or otherwise of two race bikes that I am looking to build for my return to Post Classic Racing.

Bike No 1:

Chassis - Yamaha AS3/AS1 Engine 1972 Suzuki TS 125cc Motorcrosser

Bike No 2:

Chassis Yamaha DS7/R5 Engine 1972 Suzuki TS/TM 400 Motorcrosser.

The main reason that I am looking at 2 stroke singles is, that for most of my modern race career I worked on and raced 125cc GP Bikes. Added to this a I also like to work on the K.I.S.S. principal.....Keep It Simple Stupid.

Am I being Quixotic??? Am I out of my mind with my engine/chassis choice. I'd like the opinions of the readers of this site.

Thanks

Good Luck and good riding

No problems with the legality of the two bikes. It would be nice to see another 125 on the grid.

One possible problem could be frame cracking due to vibration from the single cylinder motors mounted in frames designed for twin motors. Most bikes with single cylinder motors have a single downtube frame. I have been told that people in the past who put TM motors in T250 frames experienced problems from frame cracking.

Good luck
