With the ever dwindling numbers of bikes on grids, would it not be a sensible idea to start looking at running some classic meetings based on the formula level for P3, P4, & P5?

I am just putting my thoughts up for discussion.

IE:

Formula 3 -

All 125cc GP derived machinery, (including Replicas)
250cc 2 stroke improved touring, (Production based machines not running methanol), up to 350cc 4 stroke twins, & up to 500cc 4 stroke singles

Formula 2 -

All 250cc GP based machines and 250cc 2 stroke machines running methanol, 4 stroke multi cylinder bikes from 350cc up to 500cc, up to 350cc 2 stroke(Production based machines not running methanol)

Formula 1 -

All GP Based Machines bigger than 250cc, all large 4 strokes up to 1000cc, all large road based 2 strokes over 350cc, (Production based machines not running methanol), & all other large 2 strokes up to a capicity 0f 750cc.

I think that it would work. After all when I first started racing, the formula classes were the "Only" classes available at club level.

Of course my ideas for the types of machines eligible for each class are just my ideas, but I'm sure that there are enough, "Wise Heads" out there that could come up with a fair formula wich could level the playing field for all concerned. Perhaps It could even be made into a "Class within a class" for each Formula with separate points and trophies going to perhaps a production based class within each Formula, and a GP class for Pukka GP bikes and the more highly modified road based bikes out there.

I'm interested to here what the other racers think.

Regards,

John Swensen
