Don't say you weren't told!! Here's our annual chance to have some input to the rules and regs:
Motorcycling Australia accepting rule change proposals
February 22, 2011
Motorcycling Australia is currently accepting proposals for new rules and changes/amendments to existing rules.
Feedback from members of the Motorcycle Sport community plays an important role in ensuring the rules that govern the sport are relevant and best serve all involved.
New Rule(s)
Those wishing to propose a new rule(s) should submit a Rule Amendment or Inclusion form found in the Manual of Motorcycle Sport (MoMS) or on the MA Website, or make their submission electronically following the format outlined on the form in the MoMS or online.
Submissions are to be completed in writing using only capital letters for legibility, and should provide relevant information specifying the Chapter and proposed General Competition Rule number the proposed rule applies to.
Change/Amendments to Existing Rule(s)
Changes or amendments to existing rules are to be submitted in the same form, again, completed using only capital letters for legibility.
The Change or Amendment must contain the current rule and rule number, with the new wording suggested to also be included as it would appear in the Manual of Motorcycle Sport.
As stated all existing rules must be quoted using the 2011 Manual of Motorcycle Sport GCR numbers as a reference.
Submissions for new or changes to rules must be accompanied by a clear explanation outlining the reasons for the rule change.
Submitters must include their name, club/organisation and contact details in addition to their proposal and send to:

Can anyone confirm that the allowable tolerance has been set at 2% for P6 yet all the other Historic Periods have a 5% oversize. I thought that 2% oversize was only applicable to the modern classes in the 2011 GCRs?? I ashumed that the oversize rule in P6 would have been covered with the other historic periods in this years GCRs. It doesn't allow much in respect to choice when you need to replace parts considering that many OEM parts for this period are getting very hard to get and the use of aftermarket parts may be a necessity in the very near future.
I guess that this rule is put in place to stop the large capacities that are running in P5 Unlimited which has got out of hand in my veiw. Also if you look at some of the bikes on that grid the equipment used is way advanced compared to the 70's/80's. But it is all about how each indiviual interprets the rule book!
I'm hoping like many that the P6 classes get up and running on a national basis in the coming year! We are leading the way, with the PCRA of NSW running good size grids, hopefully the other states will follow suit and encourage more bikes and riders to come out of retirement
Just my thoughts!

This is bad that they only allow 2%. We were hoping for 5%.
I guess we will have to send our worn 2% over cylinders to NZ Cylinders to Nikasil the steel liners. Not cheap at all!  |

I have written to the commision with the following consideration:
Dear Historic Road Race Commission
I am writing to you in relation item HRR 515 issue 16:2:1 P6 Unlimited ruling mentioned at
Historic Road Race Commission Meeting Minutes 2011
Minutes of the Historic Road Race Commission meeting held at 21 Knox Street West Lindfield NSW on 29 May 2011
"Increase allowed capacity in P6 to
1300cc providing manufacturers
original capacity is maintained i.e.
no overboring except for a 2%
allowance for reconditioning
purposes"
I would like to ask if considertion could be given to this rule to extend the recommened 2% allowance for reconditioning purposes to 5% for the following reasons!
1 - All other historic peroids have a 5% allowance ( bring P6 Unlimited into line with this rule)
2 - As OEM parts for recondioning purposes have become hard or in some cases impossilbe to get , if these parts are available through the respective manufacturer the cost of these parts are unreasonable compaired to the comparable aftermarket parts on the market!
3 - more vairety and availablity of aftermarket parts.
4 - Keeping the costs of maintainance and race preparation down!
